LATA MENONis the owner and founder of Menon Law Professional Corporationand is an active community member. Her career started as a practising lawyer in three different states in India. Then, after migrating to Canada in 2006, Ms. Menon became a recognized and well-respected name within the legal community in Ontario. After having represented clients successfully in the Ontario Superior Court, Superior Court of Justice and Divisional Court, in which she achieved a landmark judgement that has since been cited in the leading legal journal, Thomas Reuters, Ms. Menon continues to offer her commitment and support to her peers as a sitting member of the Board of Directorsof the Peel Law Association. In 2020, she completed a specialized course in Negotiations and Leadership, and Leveraging the Power of Emotions, from Harvard Law School, which has enhanced her ability to deliver better service to her clients.

 

In addition to Ms. Menon’s vast and impressive legal career, she is also an active community member and champion of children and women’s rights and equality. Ms. Menon has participated in many workshops and conducted seminars that focused on youth and new immigrants, and specifically focused on education regarding domestic violence. During Covid-19, Ms. Menon continued to be an active community figure by holding virtual seminars that educated the community on the importance of preparing a will. She has also been called upon to facilitate workshops with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic School Board in which she engaged youth on matters concerning violence and has been a keynote speaker for Catholic Crosscultural Services regarding the importance of supporting local community efforts to prevent domestic violence against women and children.

Ms. Menon’s career impact and social stances has not gone unnoticed as she has been the recipient of many awards and recognition. Her top accolades include the best Barrister and Solicitor Award in 2015 from the Premier of Ontario, the Women’s Impact Award from Ontario Hero’s in 2022, and the 2023 recipient of the Maanmaatii Punjaban Award for her success and achievement within the community as a well-respected lawyer, entrepreneur and advocate of women’s rights and equality. As well, during this past Women’s Day on March 8, 2023 Ms. Menon was inducted into the Karnataka Book of Record (India) in which she was recognized as one of 123 Power Women among all the G20 nations for her efforts which displays empowerment and excellence.
